Ginny Myers Sain is the author of DARK AND SHALLOW LIES (2021), SECRETS SO DEEP (2022), ONE LAST BREATH (2024), and WHEN THE BONES SING (2025) all from Penguin Teen. Although she comes from a line of writers, Ginny's first love has always been the theatre. When she was a kid, she spent a lot of time creating characters and plots for her little brother and sister to act out. She has a degree in theatre and has spent most of her career up to this point teaching acting as well as directing plays and musicals. She didn't really learn to love writing until she realized how similar it is. When she writes, she gets to be the playwright, set designer, costume designer, lighting and sound designer, and director all rolled into one.

As a reader, Ginny has always been drawn to the strange and the spooky. During her young adult years, she devoured books by Daphne du Maurier, Shirley Jackson, Lois Duncan, and Stephen King. 

Now, as a writer, she enjoys creating dark, tangled, mysterious stories that exist in the in-between spaces where magic feels most possible. She loves writing for young adult readers because literally anything can happen in a YA novel! Those years between childhood and adulthood are full of so much possibility...and so many big fears and questions. Having grown up in deeply rural America, Ginny is especially interested in telling stories about resilient kids who come of age in remote settings.

Ginny currently lives in St. Cloud, Florida, with her college-age son and a wild goldendoodle named Magnolia.  When she is not working in the theatre or writing, you're likely to find her listening to true crime podcasts, taking pictures of alligators, eating tacos, visiting spooky places, or hanging out at Walt Disney World.
